In Colorado, there is a significant difference in the coverage insurance companies provide for orally administered anti-cancer medications versus coverage for traditional intravenous treatments.
That means the out-of-pocket costs to cancer patients for an oral drug can be significantly higher than what they would pay for a traditional intravenous treatment.
The Colorado House has already passed a bill that would require health insurance plans to provide coverage for oral cancer drugs on terms no less favorable than the coverage provided for intravenously-administered chemotherapy. Now the Colorado Senate has a chance to vote on the same bill.
