The short explanation of this alert was:
On October 6th – urge your members of Congress to support health reform!
Phone calls have a MUCH bigger impact on our elected officials than emails alone. That's why we need your help calling key decision-makers and telling them why you support health insurance reforms that will help cancer patients and survivors.
Calling is easy to do, and it only takes a minute.
On October 6th, please call 202-224-3121 to reach the Capitol switchboard. Ask the person who picks up the phone to connect you to your representative's office.
- Once you are connected to the office, a staff person will probably answer. Tell him or her you're calling to support health insurance reforms that will help cancer patients and survivors, such as elimination of pre-existing condition exclusions and caps on annual and life-time out-of-pocket expenses.
Most calls end right there, but you can add:
- Cancer patients and survivors have some of the most challenging experiences with the health care system at a time in their lives when they are most vulnerable.
- We need Congress to ensure access to affordable, high-quality health care for everyone, including people with pre-existing conditions like cancer.
- People who are battling cancer should not have to battle health insurance companies for their treatment.
- Health insurance reforms will help ensure that a cancer diagnosis does not lead to financial ruin.
- IMPORTANT: Don't forget to call again and share the same message with your senators too.
- After your call, click the "Send my letter" button on this page to let us know you called. If you like, you can use the box below to tell us how your calls went. Did you get a positive response?
On October 27th – urge your senators to support the EARLY Act!
Phone calls have a MUCH bigger impact on our elected officials than emails alone. That's why we need your help calling key decision-makers and telling them you support the EARLY Act.
Calling is easy to do, and it only takes a minute.
On October 27th, please call 202-224-3121 to reach the Senate switchboard. Ask the person who picks up the phone to connect you to your senator's office.
- Once you are connected to your senator's office, a staff person will probably answer. Tell him or her you're calling to ask the senator to support the EARLY Act.
Most calls end right there, but you can add:
- When breast cancer occurs in women under the age of 45, it is often detected at later stages, is more likely to be aggressive, and may be less responsive to traditional therapies.
- Despite these facts, there is a lack of awareness about the risks and unique challenges facing young women with breast cancer.
- That's why we must pass the EARLY Act – which will provide resources and support to address the unique needs of young women who are battling or at risk for breast cancer.
- IMPORTANT: Don't forget to call again and share the same message with your other senator.
- After your call, click the "Send my letter" button on this page to let us know you called. If you like, you can use the box below to tell us how your calls went. Did you get a positive response?
