Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death among Indiana women. Yet despite these alarming statistics, Indiana restricted treatment coverage to include only women who are diagnosed at a Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention Program (BCCP) site.

Recently, Governor Mitch Daniels and our state legislature took action to change this by passing Senate Bill 554 – a law that allows any eligible woman in Indiana to be screened and treated through the BCCP – regardless of where she is diagnosed.

When our elected officials step forward in the fight against breast cancer, they need to know they have our support and gratitude. This is one of those times.

Please take a moment to thank Governor Daniels and our legislature for expanding access to treatment for hundreds of Indiana women!

In Indiana an estimated 13,019 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year and 900 die from the disease. But, when breast cancer is detected early, patients have more treatment options and a greater rate of survival.

Thanks to the passage of this important bill, Indiana has taken an important step towards closing the gap in access to treatment and ensuring that surviving breast cancer in Indiana is no longer dependent on where you live, whether you have insurance or where you are diagnosed.

Please click here now to thank Governor Daniels and our state legislators and let them know you appreciate their efforts to close the gap in Indiana.

Thank you for your support!
