action alert

Dear Courtney,

Do you want to help Susan G Komen for the Cure® draw national attention to the global cancer movement – and be on TV?!

Next week, I will be addressing the United Nations Global Health Ministers, which will coincide with the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York City. I need you to help me move cancer to the top of the global health agenda.

On Wednesday, September 23, Komen representatives will be appearing on "Good Morning America" and the "Early Show" as a visible reminder that without a cure, an estimated 25 million women around the world will be diagnosed with breast cancer over the next 25 years.

We are looking for breast cancer advocates to join us next Wednesday as we raise awareness for the cause and prepare to kick-off National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

To volunteer, please email yscott@komen.org. We will provide t-shirts that ask our world leaders to include cancer as a global priority. If you are interested, don't delay! We can only have 30 volunteers at each show, so this is a first-come, first-served opportunity.

As Goodwill Ambassador to the U.N.'s World Health Organization, I will remind our global leaders that cancer will soon be the leading killer of women and men worldwide, already outpacing malaria, tuberculosis and AIDS combined. Yet the disease is not included at the top of world health agendas.

The number of new cancer cases worldwide is expected to double by the year 2030 – killing some 17 million people. Our world leaders and the United Nations need to address the dire need to put an end to death and suffering from cancer.

Thank you for your support. Consider joining us and, together, we will make sure our voices are heard.

Sincerely,

Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker
